rine - photography and music industry
Rine is an rising Asian-American pop singer and songwriter from Richmond, Virginia. I’ve taken the pleasure of working with Rine often on creative direction, more specifically assisting in ensuring her projects have high quality covers to back their remarkable sound.

intrusive thoughts
For her release EP, “Intrusive Thoughts,” Rine wanted to capture a nostalgic, vintage, and mysterious look to capture the energy of her album which speaks on tones of romance and coming-of-age. This is accomplished through Rine’s oversized sweater, a hat that slightly masks her face, and her camcorder and walkman.
Creative direction by Gabriel Trompeta and Katherine “Rine” Nguyen.

Convenience store
Rine sings about late nights and impulsive hangouts with friends in “Convenience Store.” The shoot was executed in the snack aisle of an Asian market in Midlothian - one that resonates with Rine and I’s culture.
Creative direction by Gabriel Trompeta and Katherine “Rine” Nguyen.

it girl
“It Girl” tells a story rooted in high school drama, involving a popular girl who believes they deserve it all. The cover needed to scream high school, so we mimicked a yearbook photoshoot, involving vibrant colors and a telephone that sells the idea of gossiping over the phone with friends.
Creative direction by Gabriel Trompeta and Katherine “Rine” Nguyen.

event photography
Rine has performed at many venues throughout Richmond, including the Richmond Music Hall where many popular artists have performed once before. Whenever I come to support her events, I ensure to capture crucial moments of her performance that tell the story of the show through visual alone.
