celebrating filipino culture.
FACT@VCU is a student non‑profit organization that promotes Filipino culture through social events, educational programs, and community building initiatives.
As a media coordinator, I produced event highlight reels, developed AAPI Month social campaigns, and managed promotion of FACT across YouTube and Instagram to increase reach and engagement. I captured candid community moments and interactions, showcasing authentic stories to attract new members and strengthen the organization’s visibility and participation.
KUYA/ATE is one of FACT’s major week-long events. New members are anonymously paired with older members (“Bigs”) so they can connect with potential friends and mentors. The week features social activities and interactive games where participants use clues and conversations to find this mysterious person, resulting in chases throughout the event as people try to expose their potential Bigs.
AAPI Month gave FACT an opportunity to spotlight Filipino festivals, a recurring and cherished theme in throughout the year. To celebrate this month, a social media campaign was curated, featuring FACT leaders and community members sharing personal stories.
These festivals celebrate agriculture, prosperity, art, and creativity, and we portrayed them in contemporary settings - through candid grocery-store outings, lively park activities, and everyday moments that modernize tradition.
